Several weeks ago, I was shot at while I was at my third shift job. I am fine but a customer was slightly injured so the insurance company interviewed me. I was asked if I thought my job was excessively dangerous and I said "No, but the parking lot needs more lights and it would be great to have a security company here."
I admit that I was a bit unnerved by the incident and am still a little scared but I do NOT want to move to another shift!
I am the third-most tenured employee of about 25 on staff and I am not being given a choice. Do I have any recourse?

Yes, you can quit the job and look for another one. If your boss made the decision and refuses your request to keep you in the shift you want, you have no other choice. You can tell your boss that you simply can't afford to have less income, and he may decide to give you the same pay on the other shift, but that is not a sure thing. Your boss has many things to consider in making the decision, including other employees, your safety, your performance in a more dangerous situation, business policies, and other issues that you can't be expected to understand.
