I need to send $3041 to Dubai. Best Way to do it? (money transfer, finance)?

My friend is moving to Dubai today and I bought his car. I've promised to send him the money but what is the most economical way to do it? Time is not a big issue.

Paypal fees are $76.32
(For $3,000.01 USD-$10,000.00, the rate is USD 2.5%+.30).

Western Union allows a max of $2999 to be sent every 30 days and the fee is $145.

I can send an American personal check but I don't know if it works in Dubai.

Have you asked your friend what he wants ?

Is he keeping a US$ bank account ? You could send a check to his bank account and avoid all the fees.

Sending it via paypal is just going to cost the fee and put it into his PAYPAL account for him to use, they are not going to knock on his door in Dubai and hand it to him.

You could also send payments to his credit card company for him.

If time isn't an issue, just be smart about it. Not paying ANY fees is the most economical way.
There are probably more dollars in Dubai than in America.

Bank wire transfer from your account. Your friend probably still has an account in the States. Send it to him there. Cost $20

If it were me I would send a cashiers check that way you are covered if the check it stolen in transit and the check is covered by most banks that have a affiliate bank in America and can be cashed in Dubai.
