I am hoping to use paypal as a solution to transfering money from my Japanese bank account to my U.S. bank account. Both accounts are registered with paypal. My U.S. account is confirmed. There is not an option to confirm my Japanese account. I can withdraw money from my U.S. account and put it in my Japanese account, but not the other way around. Any ideas? Thanks!

If you go onto your account and "add funds" or transfer funds to your Pay-pal account as select your Japanese account. Once the funds are in the account then "withdraw" funds from Paypal to your USA account. WHY NOT instead just get a debit card from your Japanese account and use that to withdraw funds at an ATM when needed and forget about Paypal altogether?

If your other bank account in Japan is not confirmed then do not even take the risk of transferring money because you will not be able to get it back. You can transfer money from an unconfirmed bank account, but you cannot withdraw it. To transfer money from your US bank account just click the link on top of Paypal home page that says "ADD FUNDS" then after you get the money just click on "WITHDRAW" link on top of the Paypal page and choose your Japan bank account from the list. Paypal automatically will exchange the currency to the local rate.
