If the person belong to the same bank as you, the money transfer should be instantanious,
If the person belong's to another bank but in the came country between 24-48 hours, usally nearer 24 hrs,
If comming from outside the country to your a/c, up to 5 working days, depending on the amount of banks it has to go through.

If it is a domestic wire (within the United States) then once the sending bank releases it to the Federal Reserve, it takes seconds for your bank to receive it -It is just like sending an email. If the sending bank formats the wire correctly on their Fed Line System, the funds will automatically go right into your account. -This is called a straight-thru. No operater at your bank will even see the wire coming in. -It will just go right into your account (make sure your bank is sophistacted with their technology).

Once the funds are in your account, you are good to go. Funds via wire transfer are good the minute it hits your account.

If it is a foreign wire, it could take up to 5 business days depending on how the foreign bank sets up the Siwft payment.
