They could "make a payment" for you ,
But I would be very leery about anyone wanting my account numbers unless I initiated the business dealing .

usually you can... putting money on someone's c/c or in their account directly isn't usually a problem... it's withdrawing that is a problem...

This sounds like a scam. Have them transfer the money to you a different way or refuse to deal with them at all. Once they have your credit card number they can order things with it.

Yes, someone IS trying to scam you. Any legitimate business will offer to send you the funds by a means you are comfortable with.

Absolutely Not! This is not a good way of doing business, No matter what anyone says.
This way of putting money onto your card leaves the door wide open for scams!
Donot by any means give out your credit card details for people to put money onto. Give them a bank account or get them to send you a cheque.
