I had this problem while in the States recently, trying to collect a Western Union Money transfer in San Francisco as emergeny funds because I was booked on a flight to JFK the following day. I had earlier had a bag and money stolen while sight seeing, so this was to tie me over, I was booked on a Niagra Falls tour two days later.

The problem was the amount was about $1000USD refused to cash the amount to me, even though I had my passport and MTCN or "Money Transfer Control Number" ! They were quite rude and frustrating. They said for "large" amounts I would need to supply a "Social Security Number". I'm an Australian on an Australian passport, the idiot couldn't understand why I wouldn't have an American Social Security number, and refused to cash an amount near $1000USD without one. I had NO problem elsewhere in the world, UK, Europe and Asia cashing larger amounts, but this stupid, arrogant American almost ruined my trip ! They actually said there was no maximum amount but......
The Question is have you had similar problems and why is the US so arrogant ?

western union always ask for more id's even though you have presented enough identification that its you,so irritating its like their employees are not trained to handle those kind of transaction!

I don't quite see how this is a question. It appears to me more like a tirade.

It isn't Western Union's fault however, it's the US government's. To cut down on money laundering and wiring drug money, the government has tight restrictions on the wiring of money. It's not the only country that has restrictions, just the only country you've contacted it. Next time before you have money wired find out what the requirements are.
