View Full Version : Why are the money transfer offers from Nigeria etc. getting smaller? Do they think I work cheap or something?

I used to get regular offers to accept $200million, then $100million and now the last one was only $20 million.
I wonder if they think I am desperate for money.

Ha Ha, that's great. I recently heard of someone falling for that. You would have think they would have at least heard of it by now.
Oh well................

I've noticed that too... The percentage I would get to keep is getting lower. It used to be a 90-10 split. I get 90, they get 10. Now, I have been seeing 50-50 splits. I'm starting to feel cheap. I think more people with my last name have died in Nigeria than any other country.... It's amazing.

Not funny. I was one of the first people to get burned on a Nigeria scam. I was selling Harley Davidson Black HIlls Gold Jewelery. A man sent me $2500 in the form of a VeriSign check. He wanted several pieces of jewelry. I had been selling on ebay for 6 years and never got a bounced check so I thought nothing of cashing the check. I deposited it in into my account.
Fortunately I was leaving for Sturgis the next day and instead of having the rings sent to me, I said I would pick them up. I was gone for a week.
About 2 weeks after I got home, a detective knocked on my door and wanted to know where I had gotten the fake check. I said "What? That check was a VeriSign check, I thought they were a credit checking company." He says "They are, they verify funds for bank accounts they do not issue checks."
So I still had the jewelery but I had to come up with money to deposit into my account to cover what I had spent out of the $2500.
I called the FBI and they told me there was not a dang thing I could do about it, Nigeria is off limits to American laws.
