Planning on claiming bankruptcy, help???

I am planning to claim bankruptcy in January 2008. I am a single mom who makes under $25,000 per year. I own nothing, my car is still in my parent's name and I rent from my parents. I have no savings except for my new 401k account at work. Can my check be garnished in the meantime? I work for a small company and not being able to pay my bills is embarrassment enough...I don't want my boss to find out how hard my situation is right now.

no, your check can't be garnished. Don't worry. Filing bankruptcy should be a last resort, and hopefully you are being guided on this! I did it 6 yrs ago, and it still affects us in some way. Good luck though!

Don't worry, your creditors will have to take you to court and get a judgment for that to happen and as soon as you file you are protected.
